Special tools include:

  • Two jack stands that are placed about the center of the frame, and used to raise the frame and engine for installation of the front axle and wheels.  One stand is used to keep the left rear wheel off the ground for easy crank starting and the other stand becomes a wheel chock on the right rear wheel.
  • A special original tool to transport the rear axle assembly and raise that off the ground for installation of the rear wheels.
  • A special thin 3/4th inch wrench for alignment of the universal joint to the transmission.  This is one of the trickier and time consuming activities, along with installation of the steering column.
  • Two crank handle sockets (with sockets welded on) for installing the spring shackle bolts.
  • Two crank handle sockets (with sockets welded on) for installing the wheel lug nuts.
  • A large pair of water pump pliers to tighten the exhaust packing nut.  These pliers are also used to remove the #4 spark plug to install a short piece of ½ inch pipe with a 2 inch T on top.
  • A five foot bar is inserted through that T to lift the engine.  One person is required to grab the crank and push down while installing the engine.
  • Two 9/16th open end wrenches and two 9/16th ratchet sockets to tighten the steering column lower nuts and bell housing top bolts.
  • A two gallon gas can.
  • Three gallons jugs of water.
  • Speedy dry to clean up any oil spills.
  • Towels and hand cleaner for the crew to use after assembly.
